A highlighted feature at Sanjeewan Vidyalaya is its Rural Training
Center. A rural development scheme assisted by UNICEF covering the
villages in the Kudal Valley to the south of the school campus.
Under this the school runs pre-primary centers for the villages,
organizes orientation camps for the village primary teachers, and
runs health education programmes with the help of the school children,
staff and other voluntary workers.
Workshops & Programmes
The Rural Center runs 'Balwadis' in a dozen villages in the vicinity
of the school. Health checkups are a regular feature, and helps
in controlling epidemics in the monsoons.
The Rural Center also conducts workshops on design for the children,
thus bringing out the important facets of aesthetics and design.
To recognize quality in art.
Another workshops conducted on a regular basis is in Film Appreciation
for the children. At the same time it trains the teachers from the
rural schools, so that they may in time produce a discerning view
in their children.
The center has begun the vocational training activity to offer skills
to the rural women. Here, they practice the art of tie-and-dye,
as one of the income generation programmes.
Another programme is centered around the conservation, and afforestation.
The school has been given 10 hectares of forest land to teach the
children the value and techniques of afforestation and conservation.
