1.Prejoining Preparation
It is absolutely essential that parents intending to admit their
child/ward are prepared mentally to accept that the child will lead
his/her life away from parents/grandparents. The child must be helped
to be independent in sleeping habits, toilet habits and food habits.
It would help therefore, if after registering the son/daughter with
the school for admission he/she is shown the school and literature
about the school, to ensure that confidence is created and he/she
is made to feel comfortable about joining the school, prior to admission.
A residential school is a total living experience, educationally
planned. It is not a hotel where you can pay and buy services. It
is infact, the child's second home where he/she has to spend nine
to ten months every year and trust with trust and confidence, therefore,
have to be essential ingredients for an effective stay in the school.
2. Leave
Leave is not granted during school term except on health grounds.
The programme in the school does not permit absence in the middle
of the term. Parents can plan all programmes so as to complete them
in the vacation. Wedding ceremonies, birthdays, religious functions
in the family and social functions should not disturb the student's
life in this educational set-up (this 'ashram') once the school
term begins. It has to be remembered that the child is staying away
from home to devote himself/herself fully and completely to this
learning programme. All leave is granted by the Principal/Headmistress/Headmaster
(SSC/CBSE/Primary) on written request (or a telephonic request in
the case of sickness emergency) from the parents themselves, (Local
guardians in the case of NRI's), and no one else. Communications
made through pupils or any third party cannot be entertained.
3. Communication
Students write one letter a week. Parents are also expected to write
at least one letter in a fortnight to the child. We encourage letter
writing more than telecommunication as we firmly believe in the
skill of letter-writing is important and a very personalized form
of communication skills. All emergencies, in any case, should be
communicated to the Principal / Headmistress / Headmaster (SSC/CBSE/Primary)
and /or other responsible persons in the administration, like the
Secretary or the Deputy Secretary. Telephone is to be used in emergency
situations. Telephone cannot be used as a means of routine communication.
4. Telephone and Trunk Calls
Telephone in the school is meant only for emergencies. Parents are
requested never to call the students over the trunk/STD telephone.
Here the trunk/STD telephone calls from a distant place involve
a long wait-anything from an hour to three or four hours. Obviously
students cannot be allowed to waste so much time on waiting. On
weekdays therefore, students are not allowed to receive trunk calls/STD
calls, even in the evenings, because evenings are also occupied.
On Sundays and holidays also it is difficult because students maybe
occupied and if they are not, they usually are out on the games
field or for rehearsing programmes. If there is anything urgent,
the telephone communication should be made preferably with the master-on-Sunday
duties or with the Principal / Headmistress/ Headmaster (SSC/CBSE/Primary).
Personal telephone of the staff should not be used for any purpose.
Telephone calls just for a long chat or only for enquiring about
the welfare of the child disturbs the child, keeps the telephone
engaged which is meant as an emergency utility. All emergencies
and any urgent information is always communicated to the Principal/Headmistress/Headmaster
(SSC/CBSE/Primary)/or to the administrative in charge, in the office.
5 .Extra Monies for the Students
Students do not need money in the school. All their personal needs
are taken care of. Small pocket money is given to the students once
in the term by the school as a part of the total programme. Money
is denied on the principle that money should not play a pivotal
role in the life of a student in this educational community. Parents
are requested not to send or give any money directly to the students.
Such money, if sent directly, is liable to be confiscated. Any extra
money needed for some special reasons should be sent to the school
office. If the parents give any money to the students it gets treated
as unauthorized money with the student. Money, therefore, should
not be given to the children for any reason whatsoever.
6. Visits
Normally parents and visitors are not expected to visit the students
in the school except on the Exeat Leave days. In any case parents
will not visit the students anytime for the first two months after
the opening of the term, except in case of an emergency, and immediately
before or after the exeat leave. Last Sunday in July and first Sunday
in August in the first term and the last Sunday in January or the
first Sunday in February in the 2nd term are usually marked for
exeat leave. Parents are particularly requested to write to the
Principal/Headmistress/Headmaster (SSC/CBSE/Primary), and fix up
the date and time to see their child on any other weekend for special
reasons by previous permission. Permission may be granted in the
discretion of the Principal/Headmistress/Headmaster (SSC/CBSE/Primary),
the Housemasters and the students too. It is a very awkward situation
when few children sit with the parents and eat while others go about
their work. It also distracts the child. It is therefore, not permitted.
Parents are requested not to visit the dormitories on Sundays and
holidays. It disturbs the other students and the staff. They can
meet their son/daughter/ward in the visitors’ room on the
day fixed for their visits.
7. Personal Eatables
School arranges enough food with a lot of variety for the students.
Children get food four to five times in a day. In case parents wish
to give extra milk or egg, all such special instructions about extra
milk or egg should be given to the office in writing. Any extra
eatables are not at all required and not advisable. Students often
keep the home tuck for a long time, and they may get tempted to
eat the spoilt food. It also affects appetite if students eat food
stuff indiscriminately before meals.
8 .Dress
Parents are requested to help students follow all dress codes and
other similar patterns laid down for the students to work together
happily and constructively. Students can bring only four coloured
dresses and not more than one pair of extra shoes/chappals/sandals
from home.
9. Special Instructions
(a) All instruction regarding leave, clothes, medicine etc, should
be given in writing to the Principal/Headmistress (CBSE/Primary).
(b) Any problem regarding the child / or any other special requests
on behalf of the child should be communicated to the Principal/Headmistress
(CBSE/Primary).
(c)Information about illness:
The school does not send any information to parents, guardians regarding
any ordinary illness like cough, cold etc. involving only about
4-5 days detention in the sickroom, but in cases where a longer
duration treatment is involved to in cases to emergency, parents
will be immediately informed.

be brought on the record of the student.
10.Appointment with the Principal/Headmistress
(CBSE/Primary) for special reasons
If and when parents wish to meet the Principal/Headmistress (CBSE/Primary)
and other staff members they are welcome to do so for special reasons
and by previous appointment, preferably on week days during the
office hours or on last Sunday of the month, and only for exceptional
reasons.
11. Office Hours
Parents will please note the school hours for visitors and payments.
School working hours for visitors:
10.00 am to 12 noon
3.00 pm to 5.00 pm
Accounts Section
10.00 am to 13.00 noon
2.30 pm to 3.00 pm
The office remains closed on Sundays and public holidays. Parents
will please see to it that after 5 pm students are not disturbed.
12. Accomodation Arrangements
The school does not have a guest house. Parents are requested to
make their own arrangement to stay overnight by writing to one of
the hotels previously.
13.Conclusion
We presume that parents have opted to keep the child away from home
by keeping trust in the school
(i)To create a special educational community for the child to grow
up as a confident and well-equipped human being.
(ii)To take all the safety measures,
(iii)To understand that all in the school have no business but to
help this process of growth. No gains or advantages are sought by
any other means except by communication
It is possible only with the co-operation of the parents. We expect
them to follow these guidelines. We, therefore, seek 'understanding'
and 'utmost co-operation' in the implementation of our educational
efforts and to ensure the utmost benefit to the one and only beneficiary
-and that is your child.
